homemade raw hazelnut chocolate spread nutella

Chocolate for breakfast? Yes please!! And more of it, if you want to be healthy!!
Just like with everything else in life, there is a right and wrong way to do things. Making your own super healthy chocolate nut butter is the right way, eating the one from the jar that also contains soy lecithin, refined sugar and unhealthy fats is the wrong way.

Here are some reasons why the do it yourself version is better:

Raw cacao powder is one of the most powerful antioxidant foods you can find on the planet, as well as being high in the super calming mineral magnesium and energizing iron. Once raw cacao has been heated and modified, it loses some of it’s powerful nutrients.

Coconut oil is far superior in it’s health benefits to unhealthy oils like soy, palm and vegetable, which is what you will find in most processed foods. Coconut oil has anti-microbial benefits, helps to speed up our metabolism, and gives you a direct source of energy that your body is able to utilize.

Raw honey is full of immune boosting and anti-microbial substances, unlike refined sugar, which weakens the immune system and causes inflammation in the body. Studies show that consumption of honey may also improve blood sugar control and insulin sensitivity compared to other sweeteners.

Here is my version of do it better yourself Nutella!

2 Tbsp raw honey or coconut syrup
3 Tbsp coconut oil, melted
3 Tbsp raw cacao powder

How to make:
Melt coconut oil in the oven for a couple of minutes.

Combine all ingredients, except for coconut oil, in the food processor and buzz until very smooth, you may have to stop and scrape down the sides. Turn the food processor on again and drizzle in coconut oil to emulsify.
