Annaliisa Kapp, Holistic Nutritionist

Braised cabbage is one of my favourite fall comfort foods. This is a recipe that has been made by my family for ages and it’s such a simple and delicious side dish for any meal. I’m modified the recipe to make it even more beneficial for your health with low glycemic coconut sugar and coconut oil for energy.

Cabbage belongs to the cruciferous family of veggies, which are great detoxifiers and so important for hormonal health.

Here’s what cabbage can do for you:

•Detox superfood – cleanses the liver and provides vital phytonutrients to help combat disease

•Top cancer fighting vegetables

•Source of B and C vitamins, calcium, folate, iron, potassium, and zinc

•Cleanse the blood and improve skin conditions

•Anti-viral and anti-bacterial

•Contain a number of compounds that aid in detoxification, such as sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol

•Aid digestion and detoxify and tonify the intestines
