Healthy morning routine for energy with Greens+

Hello My Dear Readers,

Today I want to share with you some rituals I follow pretty much every morning to keep me energized and prepare me to take on my day.

First off, let me remind you ~ without proper sleep and managing your stress levels, you’ll have a difficult time getting started in the morning whether you follow these tips and trick or not. If you are not getting your snooze on yet check out this article. If you are totally stressed, start here. And if you have little kids at home that just will not let you sleep, take a cat nap whenever possible. Call your mother or mother-in-law and have them watch the little ones for a night or two before you lose your mind!!

Back to the topic. My morning routine to feel fully alive is as follows:

1. I drink room temperature lemon water.

I keep a big glass of filtered water (20oz) with 1/2 lemon (juice and rind) on my nightstand. I drink the whole thing before I even take a step out of bed. The purpose of the lemon is to alkalize the body, help the liver detoxify from working hard all night, and to give my digestive system a boost. If I’m out of lemons, I use 2 Tbsp of raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar (the stuff with the creepy floaties a.k.a. Mother). Room temperature water gets absorbed way quicker than cold water and doesn’t shock your system first thing in the morning:)

2. I create a positive mindset.

I jot down these three things (unless my babies wake up before me ~ then I take mental notes).

  1. Three things I am grateful for right now.
  2. Three things I want to achieve today.
  3. Three positive beliefs about myself and how I want to feel. Ex. Today I feel fully alive and energized.

It’s not just about the food you eat to fuel your body. Part of setting yourself up for success is cultivating a positive mindset.

3. I move my body.

I’m not a gym gal. At all. I do my own yoga routine for 5-10 minutes in the morning to wake my body up. Another great tool I like to get the blood flowing is 30 Day Fitness Challenge app on my iPhone. It just takes 5-10 minutes, so there is really no excuse!! If I’m feeling up for it, I’ll go for a jog or head to a yoga class!

4. I add in a little kick.

I like to switch between a coffee blended with coconut oil and cinnamon (bulletproof!!), my Coconut Matcha Latte, and Greens+ Extra Energy. This is a nourishing green superfood drink that is available in the supplement section of the grocery store or at pretty much any health food store across Canada. The greens help to alkalize, detoxify, and energize the body at a cellular level, with a boost from Kola nut seed extract, Taurine (an amino acid), and rhodiola, a natural adaptogenic herb. I mix it with water or blend it into a smoothie. Now I am fully energized naturally, without the crash!!

5. I eat a breakfast that contains protein, healthy fats, and fibre.

I really emphasize adding plenty of variety when choosing my food because we get different nutrients from different foods. Eating the same foods every day can also exhaust the enzymes that help to digest that particular food. What’s more, if you don’t switch it up, you could be eating something that your body has a sensitivity to, and that could have many side effects like gassiness, bloating, skin issues, etc. You would only know that if you have ever done an elimination diet or have had yourself tested for IgG food sensitivities. Great breakfast choices include a protein smoothie, healthyfied pancakes, eggs, yoghurt with superfood toppings (try coconut or almond yoghurt for a change!),  protein muffins, chia pudding, or good ol’ oatmeal!

There you have it! My energizing morning routine in a nutshell!!
