how to make the best smoothies

Smoothies have been my go to breakfast and quick snacks for a few years now. One delicious mason jar full will balance your blood sugar, fill you up with fibre and give you an energizing green kick to fuel your mind and body.

Here is my guide on how to make a perfectly balanced smoothie to fuel and energize:
Liquid – about 2 cups. Ex. Nut or seed milk,  water, coconut water, coconut kefir.
Protein – needed for growth and repair and to keep your belly full and satisfied! Hemp seeds, raw protein powder (ex. Sunwarrior), rice protein, hemp protein. Use about 2 Tbsp.
Fruit – a sweet and phytonutrient rich addition. Wild blueberries, bananas, avocado, cherries, berries, mango, pineapple, cranberries, etc. About 1 cup.
Greens or sprouts – full of anti-oxidants, vital chlorophyll, and nutrients! Sunflower sprouts, kale, Swiss chard,  spinach, etc. About 1-2 cups.
Fibre – slows down absorption, helps detoxify, stabilizes blood sugar, helps you stay full longer.  Great choices are chia and ground flax seeds. Start with 1 Tbsp and increase to 2 Tbsp.
Healthy fats – vital for absorption, makes you feel full and satisfied! Hemp seeds, coconut oil, flax oil, almond butter, tahini,  and avocado are great choices. Use about 1 Tbsp of nut butter or 1/2 avocado.
Supe it up with super foods! – these add a powerful punch of anti-oxidants, detoxifying and energizing properties and are super nutrient dense. Spices (ex. cinnamon, cardamom), goji berries, raw cacao powder, bee pollen, spirulina, matcha powder, raw honey, lucuma, maca, etc.
