I love summer. I love the sun, the warmth, and of course the abundance of beautiful fruits and veggies. The best part is that you can go to local farmer’s markets and find some pretty amazing and unique produce, like watermelon radishes and little sweet salad turnips.Shopping at farmer’s markets is a wonderful experience. There is usually a local band playing music, neat little craft booths and amazing artists, fresh baked (healthy) goodies, and clean soaps, creams and cosmetics. The food is all from surrounding farms, which also means that it is seasonal and at it’s most nutritious state.

Why eat local?

  •  Local seasonal food is the most nutritious and delicious
  •  to reduce the energy (and associated CO2 emissions) needed to grow and transport the food
  • to support the local economy and farmers
